Choosing Your First Class

A quick reference to help you navigate the class families when you're just starting out.

New to O-Ro and not sure what to play? Here's a quick way to get your bearings. On O-Ro (Pre-Renewal, 99/70), you start as a Novice, then choose a first class before working your way toward your advanced class.

The main families

  • Melee (Swordman, Thief): sturdy or fast, easy to pick up for farming.
  • Ranged (Archer): reliable damage from a safe distance, excellent for solo leveling.
  • Magic (Mage): heavy area damage, more fragile — fearsome once geared up.
  • Support / hybrid (Acolyte, Merchant): healing, buffs, trading, and quality-of-life.

Our tips for a first character

  1. Pick a self-sufficient class to level up smoothly (Archer and Swordman are safe bets).
  2. Don't overlook the economy: the Merchant opens up trading and autotrade.
  3. You can always reset your stats through dedicated NPCs — no need to panic if you get them wrong.
This guide is deliberately general. Detailed guides by class and by build will be added here over time.
